I had a great time last week at FileMaker’s DevCon! In addition to meeting many great people and gaining new insights into the FileMaker platform, I had my picture taken with a massive, but docile, Texas longhorn!

I enjoyed meeting skilled developers creating a wide variety of practical solutions in many industries. It will take time to process all the information from the many presentations given. And I found that the FileMaker, Inc. staff to be very friendly and helpful, including FileMaker president Dominique Goupil, who hails from France. Great first DevCon with a taste to go again!

I’ve completed the FileMaker® 13 Certification exam and am now certified as a FileMaker® 13 Developer!

The FileMaker® platform continues to advance in breadth and depth. FileMaker® 13 includes many powerful tools and features that I appreciate. For existing FileMaker® 12 solutions, FileMaker® 13 is an upgrade I highly recommend!

Molly Connolly, JumpStart FM

For most of the month of June, I participated in an online course JumpStart FM. The course was coordinated and lead by Molly Connolly of Thorsen Consulting, with classes taught by industry experts like: Cris Ippolite, Dave Knight, Matt Navarre, and Debbie Zempel. Topics, designed to equip developers with skills in the various facets of FileMaker solution development, included: Customer Service, Needs Analysis, Project Management, Trouble Shooting, and Quality Assurance. Additionally the course included hands-on projects with feedback on your work. I appreciated the broad exposure to different methods and ideas useful for meeting client needs, as well as great connections with experienced professionals in the industry.

FileMaker Developer Conference 2014

I took the plunge and bought tickets to FileMaker’s Developer’s Conference in San Antonio, Texas at the end of July. This will be my first conference. I’m looking forward to meeting more FileMaker® developers and the minds behind the FileMaker® platform. Though I’ve met relatively few, the FileMaker® community is a very respectful and gracious group of people. I’m glad to call myself part of a great group!

Passed the FileMaker® 12 Certification Exam!

certified_12_logo_4clrToday I took the FileMaker® 12 Certification exam and passed! It was was very challenging. But what satisfaction to have passed! Though I’ve been developing solutions in FileMaker® for years, passing should show that I’ve “achieved an essential level of knowledge, experience and skills in developing FileMaker solutions.” (FM Certification)

I’m now a Certified FileMaker® Developer!
